Short-Term Independent Study

Q: Do you provide Short-Term Independent Study?

A: Yes, we do provide Short-Term Independent Study. If it is known ahead of time that a student will be out of school for three (3) or more consecutive school days, the parent may request a Short Term Independent Study. 

Q: How do I request Short-Term Independent Study?

A: Parent may request a Short Term Independent Study by emailing the Attendance Office ([email protected],  [email protected], or [email protected] ) at least ten (10) school days in advance of absence, except in cases of emergency. 

Q: How is Short-Term Independent Study Approved?

A: All independent study requests must be approved by the Academy Principal. NCS will not approve any short term independent study contracts during the first three weeks of school or the last three weeks of school. Short-Term Independent Study must be requested at least ten (10) school days in advance of absence.

Q: How long can my student be on Short-Term Independent Study?

A: Students will be allowed up to ten (10) days of Independent Study per year. Work is due to the Attendance Office the morning the student returns to school. Work turned in after school has started will not be counted.
