Technology Insurance Program

Natomas Charter School believes that technology can be used as a powerful tool to support effective
instructional practices and prepares students to be college, career, and citizenship ready with real world
experiences. In addition, a student's understanding of technology and its applications in and outside of the classroom is one of the NCS Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs).

Natomas Charter School can provide a 1-to-1 computing device so that every student will have access to a technology resources. Students in grades TK through 1 may receive a Touchscreen Chromebooks. And students in grades 2 through 12 may receive Non-Touchscreen Chromebooks.

There is NO INITIAL COST TO FAMILIES for the device. Students, however, are responsible for the care of their Chromebook/iPad and all related accessories.

The device is the property of Natomas Charter School. Just as with textbooks and other school-owned property assigned to students, parents and students will be held responsible for vandalism, theft, lost and/or excessive damage to the device beyond its normal warranty. It is up to parents to decide whether or not to purchase 3rd party device insurance. Currently, the Chromebook computer is valued at $250.

Coverage Options:

Option #1: Parents or Guardians assume complete financial responsibility for the repair and/or replacement cost of the device ($250 for Chromebooks) in the event that the device is intentionally damaged, lost, or stolen.

Option #2: Parents or Guardians may elect to purchase additional accidental damage insurance and extended warranty policy through Securranty. The annual (one year) cost of the insurance protection plan is $29.95 per Chromebook and is due when the school device is issued.

NCS has partnered with Securranty in order to receive a discounted group rate for families who would like to purchase a protection policy. The insurance policy covers: drops, spills, cracked screens, liquid submersion, fire, flood, natural disaster, power surge, theft, and vandalism. By purchasing the insurance families can avoid being charged the full device replacement fee of $250 for Chromebooks in almost any case except if a device is lost.

The Accidental Damage and Extended Warranty can be purchased by visiting the Securranty website at www.securranty.com/natomas-charter-school

Please note that www.securranty.com/natomas-charter-school is a customized website which will automatically apply a discount on policies purchased by NCS families. You must use the custom website address to receive the discount. Parents or Guardians will need the device's NCS Asset Tag located on the bottom of the device prior to ordering a policy. The school recommends insuring the devices within the first few days of it being issued to students.
