Library and Media Instructor

                    Elsa Prettol

Mrs. Prettol / Ms. Elsa, Library and Media Instructor 916-928-5353 Ext. 1102

My name is Mrs. Ouvrard-Prettol (you can call me Mrs. Prettol or Ms. Elsa, as I know my full last name is long and difficult to pronounce!) and I am very happy to be working for all of you as the Library and Media Instructor at Natomas Charter School!

You have an accent – where do you come from?

I am a native of France! I have been living in the United States since 2000. I have lived in Wyoming, Colorado, Minnesota, and North Carolina before finding my way to Northern California where I am now happily married, settled with my husband, our children, and our cats and chickens.

Tell us about yourself

I have been with Natomas Charter School since 2009. I come from a family of teachers and I was a teacher myself, so I feel at home working at a school.

As for my educational background, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching French as a Second Language, both earned at my home university in France.

Since you are a librarian, tell us what your favorite books are!

My ultimate, most favorite book is without a doubt John Steinbeck’s East of Eden. I read this book almost every year and always learn something new.

Some of my other favorites include Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, Alice Walker’s The Color Purple, and Marcel Pagnol’s My Father’s Glory (La Gloire de Mon Pere) and My Mother’s Castle (Le Chateau de Ma Mere). I am also a self-proclaimed “children's literature fan” and love such famous and acclaimed series like L. M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables, Bill Waterson’s Calvin and Hobbes, or most of Louisa May Alcott’s books (author of Little Women).

So, what are you going to do for us as the NCS librarian?

I am here to help you find the resources that you need for your school assignments, or want for your personal interests, whether those resources are in our collection, at another library, or online. I hope to make the libraries a place full of energy, with activities and resources that match your teachers’ curriculum and your interests.

Library Media Technician

Caitlin Kelly

My name is Mrs. Kelly and I am happy to be the Library Media Technician here at Natomas Charter School. Though I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design with an Architectural Concentration, I found my true calling here as your Library Media Technician. I truly love assisting Mrs. Prettol in making this library a space for students to research, relax, read, and recharge.

Some interesting facts about me include that I have lived in Alaska, Texas, Arizona, and five different cities in California. I love animals (specifically dogs and cats) and have a black cat named Winston. I enjoy camping, snorkeling, reading, watching movies, and spending time with my husband. I am an alumni of Natomas Charter School, Performing and Fine Arts Academy. When I attended Natomas Charter PFAA my artistic focus was that of drawing, painting, and manual photography (all of which I still do on occasion).

My favorite books include Inferno by Dante Alighieri, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. I also really enjoy reading graphic novels or comic books, like Watchmen by Alan Moore and Maus by Art Spiegelman.

I look forward to assisting you in the LMC!
